Cultural Awareness - What is the purpose of traditional tobacco ties

Darryl Taylor

Darryl shares the purpose of traditional tobacco ties:

Tobacco ties are placed in areas that are culturally sensitive and hold significant meaning to the Indigenous peoples.

The tobacco is 1 of 4 sacred medicines. The tobacco tie is used to honor and respect the Great Spirit (God).

They appear as a variation of colours of cloth, usually tied to trees, therefore, if you come upon one of these sites while working on S1 or S2 MMTP project please do not attempt to remove them out of respect.

Respectfully yours

Darryl Taylor.
